On the Top 10 list of best-reviewed lodgings in Goa, bohemian establishments beat five-star hotels.

ReviewPro analyzed a total of 17,661 guest reviews and 143 hotels with at least three stars by their Global Review Index (GRI) reputation score. This data was aggregated from more than 100 review sites over a 12 month period, including Holidaycheck, and Expedia.

Goa hotels earned an average GRI score of 78.5%, beating Mumbai’s GRI of 77.3%.

Taking the No.1 spot with 96.3%, the well-equipped Pousada Tauma hotel has earned a stellar reputation in the area for its holistic approach to relaxation, with a traditional Yoga and Ayurveda center to revitalize “one’s mind, body and soul,” says the website.

Bougainvillea Guest House comes in at No.2. With only eight rooms, this modest establishment prides itself on being a “home away from home… pampered by exceptional service and personal attention of our friendly, smiling and helpful staff.” In 2013, it won the TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Award.

These two modest hotels beat Taj Exotica at No.3, a Mediterranean-themed five-star resort & spa set among over fifty acres of lush gardens. Taj Hotels has two hotels in the Top-10.
